HANDMADE FOR 30 YEARS

Founded in 1946, YONEX has grown from a manufacturing company into a globally recognized Japanese sports brand that produces a variety of sporting goods such as badminton, tennis and golf rackets, as well as snowboards. About ten years after its founding, YONEX began producing badminton rackets, thus entering the sports industry. Twenty years later, the company introduced the manufacture of carbon rackets and developed unique manufacturing methods that became known as YONEX (Carbon) sports equipment. This advanced carbon technology was eventually transferred to the development of snowboards, creating YONEX products that feature features not found in other brands.

The YONEX factory in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, plays a central role in the development and production of these high-quality snowboards. The proximity to snow-capped mountains provides ideal conditions for testing and further development. Badminton and tennis rackets are also produced in the same facility, with the shared use of carbon technology enabling fast and efficient product development.

Unlike most snowboard manufacturers who use wood as the core material, YONEX uses carbon. This approach makes it possible to precisely control the properties required for snowboarding, such as flexibility and torsion. Carbon offers the advantage of being able to produce stable products with minimal quality variations. By adjusting the fiber combinations and designs, specific properties such as stiffness and torsion resistance can be achieved. In addition, the use of carbon enables a significant weight reduction in snowboards, which leads to improved performance.

Developing snowboards without the traditional wood core presented challenges for YONEX. Initially, there was no data or templates for such designs, which led to numerous prototypes and tests. However, through continuous research and development and close collaboration between designers and engineers, YONEX has been able to develop snowboards with outstanding performance and quality. Manufacturing takes place under strict quality control in its own factories, with each production step carefully monitored to ensure the highest precision and consistency.

Thanks to this innovative strength and commitment to quality, YONEX has become one of Japan's leading snowboard brands since entering the snowboard market in 1995. The unique combination of traditional craftsmanship and the latest carbon technology enables YONEX to produce snowboards that are recognized worldwide and popular with both recreational and professional athletes. Since 2025, YONEX snowboards have also been available directly in the European Union.
